Trouble getting my universal remote transmitter to work with my video sender

The x10 video sender works great but i haven't been able to get the universal remote transmitter to work.  Does any one have some trouble shooting recommendations?

The remote doesn't work at all, or the remote doesn't work through the video sender? What have you done to troubleshoot? Did you set up remote correctly for your TV brand and model?

I was able to get the remote programmed to use on my cable box.  However, I still have been unable to send the signal through the video sender so I don't have to get up and change the channel in the other room.
