Somehow, it seems that the difference between VA and watts is being lost on you...

Watts consumed versus power delivered is a measure of the efficiency (and perhaps quality) of the motor.  Efficiency of this motor is similar to other fractional horsepower motors for which data is available.

Because of the reactive phase lag, current does not directly indicate efficiency, except that higher currents result in more copper losses and slightly lower efficiency.

None of this has any effect on the conclusion that an appliance module or any X10 relay switch designed to drive inductive loads should handle the load just fine.
