Success so close!
« on: August 15, 2010, 09:28:03 AM »

I have a 3 sensor system and after a week of testing, it was 100% reliable.

I use a TM751 and a MS16a sensor for each zone.

They are attached to each other or within a foot distance.

I use a AM466 and a 110 VAC relay for each zone.  A-1 (silenced),  C-3, and E-3

All 3 relays output 110 VAC in parallel to the primary of a 110/24 VAC transformer.

If any sensor triggers, there is 24 VAC output.

If all 3 trigger, the last one to send an OFF will turn the 24 VAC off.

If everything goes as planned this whole house water control system will be on the local news next week.

If it wasn't for this forum, I would not be writing this post.

Sounds good.
Hope the extended tests go 100% correct.

Brandt -
BoyntonStu was talking about building a motion sensor system where if no motion was detected for a while, it would shut off the water in the house, to avoid flooding.

See his original post http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=20882.0

Glad you got it complete!   ;D

We installed the whole house valve this afternoon in 90* Florida heat and with a torch!   HOT!!!!

We only had 2 major leaks that had to be re-soldered.

When we wire the valve up to the X10 system tomorrow, this project should be operational.

The system was successfully tested yesterday.

I walked into my house with the kitchen faucet turned on but with no water flowing.

When I got within 12 feet of the sink, the water began to flow.

I sat down and I watched (no movement) until the timer counted down and the water stopped.

It is a great feeling to think of a new X10 application and see it through to success.

Maybe X10 should market a water detection system for homes with PEX plumbing, which seems to be very popular...we will see how popular it is a decade down the road. Anybody have PEX in their home? Any problems so far?

Dave,

A water detection system is for an after the fact leak.

My X10 system is an automatic water on demand device with a normally OFF water valve.

If you are not moving near a water valve in your house, there is no water pressure to cause a leak.
