Problem with CM15A and AHP Timers
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:23:57 PM »

What I have: CM15A, three Wall Switches WS467 (one slow start), Remote Control HR12A, AHP 3.228

The first thing I did was to change the WS467 to LM14A as per suggestions found in this forum.

I can't get the TIMERS to work on the three modules (H2, H3, H4).  All modules work correctly when I control them within AHP or with the HR12A.

All modules have the same problems so I will document my tests on H3 only since I can see it from my computer.

1)  Timer set to turn ON at 14:05 OFF at 14:10 Daily
Module does not turn ON (note it tries to turn on H4, not H3.

What happens on Activity Monitor:
0   11/01/10 14:05:10 PM   Macro   H4 Extended Code d2 31 (Porch)
1   11/01/10 14:10:09 PM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
2   11/01/10 14:10:10 PM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)

2) Clicking on module within AHP to turn it ON and OFF.
Module turns ON and OFF.

What happens on Activity Monitor:
0   11/01/10 14:43:09 PM   Transmit   H3 (Bedroom)
1   11/01/10 14:43:10 PM   Transmit   H On (Bedroom)
2   11/01/10 14:44:23 PM   Transmit   H3 (Bedroom)
3   11/01/10 14:44:23 PM   Transmit   H Off (Bedroom)

3) Using HR12A to turn module ON and OFF.
Module turns ON and OFF.

What happens on Activity Monitor:
0   11/01/10 15:09:32 PM   Receive RF   H3 On
1   11/01/10 15:09:32 PM   Receive      H3 (Bedroom)
2   11/01/10 15:09:33 PM   Receive      H On (Bedroom)
3   11/01/10 15:09:33 PM   Receive      H3 (Bedroom)
4   11/01/10 15:09:34 PM   Receive      H On
5   11/01/10 15:13:30 PM   Receive RF   H3 Off
6   11/01/10 15:13:30 PM   Receive RF   H3 Off
7   11/01/10 15:13:31 PM   Receive      H3 (Bedroom)
8   11/01/10 15:13:31 PM   Receive      H Off (Bedroom)
9   11/01/10 15:13:31 PM   Receive      H3 (Bedroom)
10   11/01/10 15:13:32 PM   Receive      H Off (Bedroom)

4) I changed the H3 from Two-Way Lamp Module (LM14A) to Appliance Module 2-Pin (AM486).

Timer set to turn ON at 09:15 OFF at 09:20 Daily
Module turns ON and OFF.

What happens on Activity Monitor:
0   11/02/10 09:15:53 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
1   11/02/10 09:15:53 AM   Macro   H On (Bedroom)
2   11/02/10 09:15:53 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
3   11/02/10 09:15:53 AM   Macro   H On (Bedroom)
4   11/02/10 09:15:54 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
5   11/02/10 09:15:54 AM   Macro   H On (Bedroom)

6   11/02/10 09:20:12 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
7   11/02/10 09:20:12 AM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)
8   11/02/10 09:20:12 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
9   11/02/10 09:20:12 AM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)
10   11/02/10 09:20:13 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
11   11/02/10 09:20:13 AM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)

5) I changed the H3 from Appliance Module 2-Pin (AM486) to Lamp Module LM465.

Timer set to turn ON at 09:45 OFF at 09:50 Daily
Module does not turn ON.

What happens on Activity Monitor:
0   11/02/10 09:45:57 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
1   11/02/10 09:45:57 AM   Macro   H Bright 100% (Bedroom)

2   11/02/10 09:50:42 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
3   11/02/10 09:50:43 AM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)
4   11/02/10 09:50:43 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
5   11/02/10 09:50:43 AM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)
6   11/02/10 09:50:44 AM   Macro   H3 (Bedroom)
7   11/02/10 09:50:44 AM   Macro   H Off (Bedroom)

The TIMERS seem to work with Appliance modules but not with any Lamp modules.  I've tried talking with X-10 support via email but I've not had any luck.  The guy is either swamped, doesn't read my emails, or doesn't know what he is doing.

It seems to me that I have a defective CM15A but how can I tell?

Anybody have any ideas.

Thanks,
Mike

Under the preferences, you can try checking the box (on the "macro options" tab) marked "Issue 'ON' in place of "Bright 100%". From what I've read (I don't have any WS467's anymore - soft start or otherwise), that seems to be one of the fixes for the soft-start ones.

That option is already set.  Made no difference.  And that option is for macros and I don't have any macros.  I'm trying to run only timers.

make sure that your timers had the mention daily at the end of the string and not january 1 to january 1 by clicking on the DAILY button on the edit window of your timers.

if don`t your timers will only work on jan 1

Hope it will help

All "test" timers are set to DAILY.  The TIMERS appear to run - they just don't run correctly.  See Tests 1, 4, and 5 in my original post.  As I said when the module is set to an Appliance module the timers work.  When the module is set to any kind of Lamp module the timers don't run.

Thanks,
Mike

i`ve already have this problem and it was an incompatibility with the lm465 (or WS467) and the extended codes or the codes transmitted by the timers only. Works fine with all the remotes.

If you have it, try to change the module definition for lamp module, not the one with LM465 but the basic one.

before changing your module definition, start from scratch by deleting all your timers, emptying the trash, clearing interface memory and recreate ALL  the timers associated with these modules.

That`s the way i solve the problem.

I`m sure it`s not an defect CM15A, but for strange reasons, it appears that AHP send different types of codes for macros and timers.
Hope it will help
