Protector Plus and phone number dialing
« on: June 15, 2010, 03:25:35 PM »

What happens when the phone number that Protector Plus dials is an answering machine, and what if it's one of those answering machines where you have to choose 1. for Joe 2. for the kids 3. for the dog 4. for etc.??

Are ya basically out of luck?

Yes.

It dials up to four numbers and looks for a phone answer (off hook). When one of the four numbers answers it plays the message. Doesn't care if it is a person, an answering machine, or the cat.   Not sophisticated but considering the price.....

Shoot.

What am I going to do with this thing? Is there a way to get it to email instead of phone call?

Well I'm kinda surprised one of you guys hasn't figured out how to have it email out a message. Maybe BVC could respond to the sound of the DS7000 siren, and then trigger a macro to send an email. Hmmm....

Yes. With a thirdparty software program! ;)
I haven't tested this but PcCompanion should be able to do it as it will send out e-mail from a x10 trigger.
You may get a flood of e-mails as I don't believe I coded something special for this!
I'll look into adding this option if I haven't allready!

BVC and X10SW can also send a email from a Ds7000 alloff allon signal.
