Newbie requires info

 B:(

Hello,

Hoping somebody will be able to help me out with getting a HAL light module into Setup mode.

My customer has dumped a HAL2000 system on me with no instructions for the system, I have found the HAL on line help but there seems to be no data on how to get the light module into Setup mode.

In the device wizard there is a "find" option when I click this button I am prompted "No new UPB modules found. Make sure the new module is in Setup mode".

Any advice will be greatly received

This is the X10 Forums, your post is for HAL, which is NOT X10.

Well if you need UPB help, this forum (probably) ain't the place to get it. X10 modules do not use the "find" UPB feature because they can not answer (one way only).

So, do you know what you are trying to install? My crystal ball needs batteries.

If you are trying to install new X10 modules in HAL then go to the "X10 quick reference guide" on the Automated Living downloads page. I *think* all you have to do is input the X10 house code - unit code address, module/device type(X10 Lamp Module, Appliance Module, etc.) the  installed location (i.e. "Hall Outlet") , and module name (i.e "Entry Light") in the HAL database.

OR you could wait and see if a X10 system owner who frequents this forum and uses HAL might answer. First you need to figure out what kind of device you are intalling (UPB, Z-wave, X10, Insteon, etc etc).
