CM15A & TM751 different functionality ?

Do the CM15A and TM751A operate on different frequencies and/or a different protocol ?
I was expecting my KR22A remote to work with the CM15A but it wouldn't do anything until I plugged in the TM751.
Seems a bit redundant to me.

So if I have this straight, an MS14A motion detector requires the CM15A to receive the RF commands but a keychain remote requires a TM751A to receive it's RF commands ?

No. They (in transcieve function) are identical. Do you have the CM15A set to transcieve the House Codes in use?

Also go into the Tools Tab.
Hardware Configuration.
Make sure the House Code you are using for the KR22A is set to be transceiver.
Sometimes Auto doesn't work for everyone.

You may want to search the forums for the CM15As poor reception range for remotes and other RF devices.

To summarize what the other posters have said, there are two things at play here.
1. The CM15A will only pass RF commands onto the powerline for those housecodes that you tell it to. That setting is in the "Hardware Configuration" window.
2. The RF receiver on the CM15A has a much shorter range (in most cases) than the TM751. There are a number of fixes for this, ranging from the very simple (relocate it to a place where it is closer to the RF signals it is trying to receive), to the mostly simple (tape a 19-inch length of wire alongside the CM15A's external antenna - no electrical connection involved - to act as a passive reflector), to the more advanced (open up your CM15A - voiding the warranty - solder in a connector, and build your own external antenna to the proper specs).

Personally, I've done the second one (the non-invasive passive reflector), and I now have good RF coverage in my entire home.
You should be able to test problem #1, by trying to use the KR22A a few inches away from the CM15A (without the TM751 plugged in). Once you have that working, you can determine the range it had by slowly moving away, until it no longer triggers.
At that point, one if the antenna mods is probably your best bet to increase the range.

I have three pc's running X10 AHP and other 3rd party software. There is quite a range of power consumption though. The machine I leave on all the time has a celeron on a Winsystems custom SBC with integrated video. It only draws 25 watts when on , it runs so cool that  the processor fan never starts other than during boot. The other machines have an old AMD 2800 processor while the newest machine  has a a Core2 duo. They draw 70 and 110 watts respectively. As mentioned, I leave the little guy on all the time. I start the others remotely with Wake-on Lan functionality through Logmein.Com. I keep most of the cameras on the second machine, so if the little guy senses trouble, I get an email. If my DS7000 senses further intrusion, I get a phone call on my cell. With power here approaching 22 cents a KW (all-in price) there is incentive to keep only the SBC running all the time.

Rural rates in Northern Ontario are going through the roof. Power itself ranges from about 5.5 cents to 10 cents during on peak periods.(We are on "time of use" metering) It is all the add-ons that drive the price up, line loss fees,transmission line fees and Hydro 1 debt retirement. Then our government adds the 13% HST (tax) to add insult to injury. With the current move to support green energy in Ontario, the gov't predicts rates will rise about 40% over the next five years. I can only hope AHP will run on a palm pilot by then.
