From your other post. Your description sounds like an X10 WS12A.
It is basically a WS467 with a paddle and frame added. The WS467 did not have local dimming control and I did see a modification to add it. By jumping out a resistor.

I have no idea if this would work but I believe replacing the jumper in a WS12A model with the resistor would remove local dimming.

I will see if I can find any further information. I may still have a WS12A left over from my conversion to Insteon in a storage box.

I thought the newer ones with soft start did have local dim. Why do you want to disable? Using these with anything other than an incandescent load is a bad idea.
Remote control is cool,
but automation rules!

It looks like the new soft start model WS467s also have local dim control and preset dim. My thoughts are also surface mounted components and different schematics. So my resistor in place of a jumper. May only apply to the older before soft start models.

My stock is mostly old stuff. Kind of like their owner.  :'

Thanks all!!!

I want to disable local dim b/c for some reason-  when I turn the light on or off I end up dimming it a little and that gets annoying :)

Thanks again for the ideas!

Same here.  I hate local dimming because I never intentionally use it... though apparently I'm an avid user  B:(

Do the WS12A switches you want to remove the local dim control, have soft start. Where they ramp On and Off in a few seconds?

kevinv

yeah they have softstart.  I like softstart,  don't like local dimming   :)

Soft start would be fine if it were faster and didn't have local dimming.  I just picked up a Cooper brand motion sensor switch that works really nice.  It does the soft start thing, but it's faster so it doesn't seem quite so annoying.
