I've replaced the battery, but it didn't help.

Try reprogramming first...after that, yup it is wastebasket material.

When you changed the battery the module reverted to defaults.
If you has programmed it to a new address. As dive w said. Try reprogramming it to what you where using.

Of course, I had reprogrammed (several times) before posting. 

Now I get to have the fun of pulling the old one off the wall with a minimum of damage to it.....

Just a FYI...
  To stick the remote to the wall, do NOT use the double back sticky tape that is on the remote.
I went to the 0.99 store (could be dollar tree in your area) and picked up some "Allary Stick & Tack" reusable and removable adhesive.
  It is a putty similar to Silly Putty (dates ME!).
  You tear off a little piece, roll it into a ball (about the size of half a peanut), and smosh three "balls" on the back of the switch.
  Then you press the switch (while very slightly twisting) on your wall to flatten the "ball".
  the switch is very light, and I used three points rather than just two, so the switch will not rock when you press the buttons.... you could try just two to see how you like it.
  The adhesive will NOT harm your wall, pull paint off, discolor (but there is a warning about using on wallpaper... the warning is on the back with a red IMPORTANT note), and is easy to remove and reuse!
Try it and see!!!

Wohoo!! This gets a "Helpful" from me. I have seen this stuff, but never figured it had the adhesion to hold up a SLS. Thanks!

You are ALL very welcome!!!   
  As far as the "adhesive power" of this stuff, I have even used it to hold an Eagle/hawkeye motion detector WITH my 3 AA battery/ 3300 uf capacitor mod to a wall!!!  You need at least 4 "balls" for the added weight, but it sticks!
  If you were using the unmodified motion detector, I believe that even 2 "balls" would hold the detector.
  I think, though, if the detector is outside, in the sun, that the warm temperature MIGHT loosen the sticky and it might let go.  I have not tried this on a motion detector, but I was using this stuff with something else, and when it gets warm, it does get "softer" but does not flow or droop, so I think it would still work.
  I will have to try this though.
  It is very cheap and seems to work well....

    I don't think it is THAT smart!  I remember using Silly Putty for that!  I also remember if you leave Silly Putty in the sun, it DISAPPEARS!!!  Never figured that one out! hhmmmm!!!!!  I still have two tubs of Play Doh so I will have to try that one out!
