I use to get update notifications, now when I check No I get:
(No service)
No notifications.
Maybe I turned something off or no updates are available?
I have wifi connection and know it's working.

Updates for what?
The rom is currently at 004

i'm assuming you mean market update notifications. if you open up the market app go to settings the first setting is notifications. that should be checked. then obviously, you have to have applications that require updates in order to be notified. i usually uncheck "allow automatic updating" on most of my market apps as well.

how do you check rom version for airpad?? is it under Kernel version i saw 2.6.32.27 EM2918-705c@v04M #987

If your has Android Market then most likely _001 .
If it does not have the Android Market then most likely _004.
That is if you have not reflashed the ROM yourself.
