I want to control the night tarif radiators in my holiday rental apartments over internet.
There is a large din rail switch which at the moment is controlled by a timer.

I have bought a "WebIO Internet Server" which allows me to control x10 devices over the internet.

It works a fine and it is easy to switch lights on and off etc from my tablet pc over the internet.

The problem is that the only available din rail switch (the  X10  AD10) only has a capacity for 3000 watts whereas my elctric heating system switch can use up to 8000 watts.

Does anyone know if there is a very high capacity X10 switch available or if there is some sort of big switch that can somehow be switched on and off using X10 commands either directly or indirectly.

I have read other posts on this forum speaking about a similar issue but with a hot water heater but the answers don't solve the problem.

Is there a way to switch on and control a high load circuit with X10?

AD10 module. So your country is 240 volts?
There was at one time a 120 volt heavy duty ELK device, but I believe it was discontinued.
The replacement ELK is a large capacity heavy duty contactor with a120 volt coil. Turned On and Off by an X10 appliance module.

Maybe you could get a 240 volt contactor in an electrical enclosure and control the heaters with its contacts and switched On and Off by the AD10 powering its coil. I am hoping someone may ave a more convenient way, but a contactor should work if necessary.

Might there be a way to control your existing switch with external contacts instead of the timer?

Do you know what sort of contactor to use.
I did think of a contactor but when I searched for it I ended up on lots of technical pages I did not understand.

Do you know a name and make of a contactor which would work with x10 (in a 240 volt system)  ?

I will look around and see if I can find anything.

An example of one we use here in the US is the ELK-9200, but it is 120 volt controlled contactor [also known as a heavy duty relay]

It has a 60 amp contact rating and my calculations show 8000 Watts with a 230 volt AC supply is 34.78 amps.

Is the timer that now controls your "large din rail switch" external to that switch. If so, you should be able to merely replace the timer with something like the AD10.

Had a job switching a big load, what I did was to get contactor big enough to take the load and use a X10 module to turn on-off the contactor. All the module sees is the coil in the contactor. You can use one side of the 240 to drive the module and contactor.

Don't think so. The OP is asking about European X10, which is not a split phase system. Everything is 230V.
