Active Home Pro Stopped working
« on: December 08, 2011, 09:36:06 PM »

Everything worked Great!  Then it went sour.  I have been scouring these forums and have read a lot about the new soft start modules and how the part numbers stayed the same and on and on and on...

Before when all was Great....Two Story Home using 10 codes on "C" down stairs and 4 codes on "L" channel upstairs.  One TM751 upstairs on L and one TM751 downstairs on C with a DS7000 set at 16.

All modules were of the older variety until recently.  2 weeks ago I received from X10 two TM751's, Two AM466's and Two AM486's and a Mini controller MC10A.  Yes I received some items I didn't need but it was one of those X10 Deals where I figured what the heck I can always EBay some of the extra stuff.  I also bought the Android application for remotely controlling my lights.

While in the midst of this "improvement project" on my perfectly working X10 system I stumbled across the fact that there was an AHP update available and I installed it as well.

Of the new stuff above I added the mini controller for convenience of controlling lights in the Kitchen and added 3 of the 4 appliance modules all on the C house code downstairs.  All three appliance modules actually control lights, one florescent in the garage and two lamps in the house.

I did *NOT* add any new Lamp Switches or Modules, unless the MC10A mini controller would be considered a switch

Once I was done with the additions and upgraded my software I could no longer control the majority of my lights with the AHP software and of Course my Macro's stopped working.  I have been only working with the downstairs during my troubleshooting of this so all explanations from here on refer to Code C or the downstairs portion of my home.

I can turn the TM751 on and off with AHP.  I can turn on and off the two lamps closest to the CM15a with AHP.  Both Lamps are controlled by the new Appliance Modules.  I have tried switching the modules out to the older lamp modules and my results are the same throughout the downstairs.  That being I can control nothing else with AHP.  One other NOTE: The TM751 is one of the furthest modules away from the CM15a.  And yes, I have moved the TM751 closer to the CM15a with no change.

Now all modules work using the remotes, HR12 and other various remotes I have.  Also when using the remotes the AHP software reacts to the commands I send with the remotes.  In other words If I turn on a light the screen will show that light go on.  If I dim a lamp, AHP will show the dimming.

Yes my AHX file has “oldlamp” for all lamp switches.

I have ordered a new CM15a via EBay in order to see if the CM15a coincidentally went bad during this upgrade or if I may have damaged it doing the modification of replacing the antenna with a TM751 antenna, But it does turn on and off a TM751 across the house.

Can I mix the new Appliance modules with the old Lamp modules?  I would think it is OK because the Appliance modules have nothing to do with the soft start change.

Any comments or idea's would be appreciated.

Aloha!

How old are your older lamp modules and wall switches?
Are they all pre-softStart? If so, make sure that you set eh "module type" to "old lamps - no Soft Start," AND then set the correct module from the second drop-down again.

Also, you said you can't turn them on from AHP.
Can you turn the OFF?
What does the Activity Monitor show?
Can you control any of the appliance modules from AHP?

You can mix and match new and old modules, lamps and appliances on the same HOUSE codes. HOWEVER, you don't want to mix any of them on the same UNIT Codes, because the system doesn't know which type of code to send, and might send the wrong types.

Aside from that, you might have a noise issue. Did you add anything else to your home at the same time the modules topped working? TVs, computers, CFL light bulbs, and even cell phone chargers have been known to cause noise on the line, which can interfere with proper X10 operation. If so, you may need to install some filters on those devices.

Not sure where I should put the "old lamps - no Soft Start".  I do not have a "Module type".  I have a type and "category".  Do I add another key or did you actually mean either "type" or "category".

Thanks for the reply...

In the modules tabs. There is a Lamp Module List and a Old Before Soft Start List.
Any module that is soft start where they ramp On and Off use the Lamp Module List.
Any module that goes On and Off instantly use the Old Before Soft Start List.
If all of your working ones in the older AHP are not soft start. You have to edit each module in AHP and redefine them from the Old Before Soft Start List.
I believe you also have to download timers and macros again, but Noam would know more about that.

The actual terms in AHP are Lamps and Older Lamps  (NO SoftStart),

Yes, once you correctly re-define each lamp module or dimming wall switch to the correct type, you'll need to re-download your macros to the CM15A.
