Hello all, I am new to these forums and looking for some ideas.  I figured I could use an appliance module to control my garbage disposal.  The current switch is behind a cabinet door and it a bother to open the cabinet door with wet/dirty hands.  I found that I could use on of the key fob remotes, but in a perfect world, I would make a foot switch, any ideas?
Thanks!

X10 modules can to falsed to the ON state. Power brown outs and power flickers can turn the Appliance Modules amd Lamp/Wall switch ON. I would not use X10 to control anything that is made for intermitent operation like a disposal.

I currently have a garbage disposal controlled by x10 but to protect against this issue I have two modules running in series I believe they are the XPFM modules and I set them to different addresses then wrote a macro that it sends the first address on then pauses for 2 seconds and then turns on the second module.  As for the foot control I don't have a clue my ha setup all runs on voice command.

Yes, you are right! would probably work well here too.

I have used two Appliance Modules in series to control a alarm siren, and it worked well as far as elimination of false turn-ons. Didn't think about the application here. Thanks

You could get a WebControl board, hook up one of its digital input to your foot switch.
Then write a small code paste into its web GUI. In that code, when the foot switch pressed, turn on the first X10 appliance module, then turn on the 2nd X10 appliance module.
After the disposal done, turn off the first X10 appliance module, then 2nd appliance module.
WebControl can hook up to any X10 RF transmitter, like old X10 key remote, or palm remote, to send X10 RF signals.

Noam

I'm sure somebody makes a foot-pedal controlled extension cord.
Look for it as a power-tool accessory.

Seach "foot switch" on Ebay. More foot switches than national debt, pop up.
