Playing .AVI files on Airpad 7" 910

I am able to play some .avi video files on the tablet but some others with the same properties only play audio. Does anyone know what to look for in file properties before downloading onto the tablet? I like to watch missed TV programs but it seems hit or miss if they will play. Maybe some files need to be converted first. Any info someone may have would be great.

I have the same issues on windows 7 
I suspect the issue is a codex one, as that is the problem for some files playing on windows.
You might try downloading some different players.

Thanks for the reply Tucuman. I would have liked to try real player or mx video player apps as they were reported to play a large variety of files. However i am limited to amazon market and chose meridian player. It seems to be the same as the player native to the airpad. I tested one video...only sound, no video. I will continue to experiment with others i can find. Is there any way to get these other apps on the airpad to try them?

I'm not sure why your limited to amazon for apps.
There are a few ways to get Google market on the 910.
My forum has threads for how to add it or how to revert your rom to 002 or 001 which will give you market as well.
