Networking poll #1 (input requested)

As electrical prices continue to rise many are becoming concerned with the mounting cost to run a network 24/7.
Some such as myself have limited amounts of power be it a off grid installation or something else.
I've begun to play with Wake On LAN (WOL) to power up my networked PCs.
I can already turn them all off with a single trigger, id just like to be able to turn them all on too.

Is this a valued option?
WOL works fine for me for wired PCs but wireless connections don't respond.
I'm told the same magic packets work for both wired and wireless the issue is the wireless card.
I'm told Intel wireless cards are about the only cards that work with this.
Does anyone have a Intel wireless card that could confirm this?
I've also discovered no PC using a wireless card can be woke up from complete powered down state. :'(
However Intel cards can bring back a PC from stand by to full power.
Some will even work from Hibernation which uses even less power then stand by.
Wireless PCs have no problem sending the WOL signal no mater what brand card is installed. :)%

Getting a Intel wifi card looks like it may be a bit of a feat for a PCI connection.
There seems to be a few PCIe cards.
However most Intel cards are minis for notebooks and laptops. ::) :'
Intel does advertise WOL for their wifi cards and they are cheep enough.
I figure they'd easily pay for them self's in a few months.
I did find a Intel mini to PCI adaptor on eBay, one even with the wifi card for $11.99  :)%
