USB charger
« on: January 11, 2012, 01:21:32 PM »

I would like to see a USB charger.  I couldn't find one so I made my own.  I took an old USB cable and bought an "A" tip at Radio Shack.  I soldered the red and black USB wires to the leads on the tip, and now I can charge my tablet off my laptop.

I'm very surprised that the tablet didn't come with something like this.

This is a great suggestion. I am not handy with a soldering iron. There is an entreprenurial opportunity here for someone with a little time and a good soldering technique.

My Airpad XL charges fine (albeit a bit more slowly) with USB connected to PC. I also have a charger for an old Palm that works - though I'm less inclined to use it since it puts out 5.2V

It is not recommended that any of the Airpad models be charged with a USB charger. The cannot supply enough current to fully charge the battery.
