Using Handheld radios as a Microphone for BVC or other VR/HA software

I haven't done this or tried it yet but the thought came into my mind recently that you could probably used handheld radios with privacy codes (so that you don't spam a channel) for relatively long distance (a few miles) communication with your Home Automation system. Most of the radios sold now come with an output and input 3.5mm Stereo Jack so this would be perfect. Here's some I find on the amazon:

Again I haven't tried this so I really don't know if it will work (I'll probably try it soon) but I don't see how it couldn't. Anyway I hadn't ever seen someone do this before and it just popped into my head so I wanted to throw it out there. :)

I used a pair of headset walkie talkies and it worked just fine.   ;)

I used a musicians headset mic. Receiver plugged into the computer. Worked fine up to 200 feet.
Now I use my Android app.

There are several android apps that will work for voice commands.
One even intergrates to your PCs sound card so you talk directly to the PC.

TAC can use the same Face as BVC.
