Connecting to other hardware on home network?
« on: February 13, 2012, 06:23:32 PM »

Is it possible to wirelessly connect to other hardware on my home network? For instance, I can transfer files back-and-forth between our laptops and the desktop up in our office. Is the same functionality available (preferably out-of-the-box) with my AirPad 7P? If not, does anyone know of a good (preferably free) app that does this?

ES File Explorer will access Network Attached Storage devices via SAMBA. I have used it to access music and videos. I have not tried writing to them from the Airpad. Ghost Commander has a SAMBA plug in that may do the same thing. Both are free on the Amazon Marketplace.

Splashtop Streamer is a great app for accessing the desktop of your PC remotely

OK.. Total Commander with the LAN plugin will allow you to access your NAS, download a movie and launch a player for it. Not streaming, but does offer a way of getting data to the Airpad. Not on Amazon's Market place but both the application and plugin are available on the author's website: www.ghisler.com/android.htm
