x10 xpt xp4d
« on: January 19, 2013, 11:19:59 PM »

Hey Everyone,

I have scoured this site for the same problem but I cannot find any.  I bought a house with the x10 xp4d Old Version.  It is hooked up to 2 zones of Recessed lights.  Ever since in bought the house, if I have the lights on for an extended period of time, they will not turn off.  I have to go to the breaker to turn them off.

I thought it might be the receptacle or the face, so i ordered a new 10 xpt New Version "A", both the face and receptacle, and it does the exact same thing.  If I turn them on for a few minutes they turn right off, however if they are left on for maybe a few hours they will never turn off.  They always turn on.  Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

The X10Pro XPT base with XP-4D button set. Is a controller only.
You should check the X10 receiving modules it is controlling.

It maybe a XPDF if it is inside the fixtures or an X10 wall switch if there is a switch that can also control them.

What type of bulbs in the fixtures?
If you are dimming them. Incadescent types and some dimmable CFL or LED bulbs may work.
Since it takes a few minutes to warm up. It could be the bulb type and it is making noise when On and causing the Off command to be missed while the On is always seen as the bulbs are not making noise when Off.
