my friend what make for me the plugin with vb , he make too a x10 timer , so , i put the water heater turn on 6:30 pm and turn off 10:00pm , every days

Does turning off the water heater even help?  I've read both that it saves the world and that it may save a few dollars a year at the cost of wear and tear of components and potential bacterial growth in the tank.  I have a timer, but have it disabled because it's mechanical and vibrates the framing of the house.  I decided that the ~$20/year savings wasn't worth the vibration.  They make electric versions that I could drop in, but it'd take ~5 years to break even and, again, bacterial growth...

I wouldn't worry about saving the world... the world will still be here long after mankind has died out. I won't even give up aerosol deodorant to save the ozone... I sure ain't giving up hot showers! 

The potential for money/energy savings and bacteria growth are probability somewhat closely related. The less use required of hot water... the greater the potential for savings and the stagnant water is better for growth of unfavorable microprobes... IMHO.

One person living alone... who maybe travels or works a lot might be able to turn the hot water heater off for days at a time. But an on-demand "tankless" water heater would be the better choice in that case. For most people simply turning the temperature setting down will provide the greatest savings. I don't think the best automation always means the best designed gadgetry. Often times the best automation is just the simplest... so nothing needs done or can go wrong.
