I installed a new, very bright, 50 watt LED floodlight over my garage door an set up an Appliance module to turn it on from dusk to midnight.  The controller always turned it on after a few seconds of connect time.

This was a great solution to replace my ailing Metal Halide lamp over my garage door. The issue I ran into was that the X10 computer controlled lighting system would always turn on due to the behavior of the power supply in this LED fixture. X10 modules have a feature that allows you to trigger them on by cycling the controlled unit on and off twice. It turned out that the problem was an interaction between this feature and the Lamp electronics.
 
This feature can be disabled in an X10 "Appliance" module by taking the module apart and looking for the resistor and capacitor that allows a bit of AC current to flow to the appliance while in the off state. I disconnected these two components in the module and now the lamp stays in the off state until the system sends the on command.

That does not work with the later CFL friendly Appliance Modules. With the surface mounted controller IC.
There is only a very small relay sensing current that can't be disabled. If you do. It can't figure out if it is On or Off. So it pulses a few times trying to find its present state of On or Off. Like a machine gun.

You seem to be the guru for LED light control.  I have an older model 340F wall switch module.  It controls a light in a swimming pool.  I'd like to replace the incandescent bulb with a 100 watt equivalent LED bulb.  The bulb is can be dimmed and I'd like to retain this feature.  Is there an X-10 module that will work?  I see an Insteon 2475DA1 that seems like it will work, and Smarthome says it will support an LED, but it's fairly expensive and seems like it's somewhat complex to program.  Thanks in advance.

340F is the UL Listing number. Is it a wall switch or a plug in Lamp Module and can you find an X10 model number?
Most two wire X10 wall switches. Get their power through the load and incandescent bulbs are required.
It is very hit and miss with dimmable LED {some are not} or dimmable CFLs.
The only LED bulb I have seen work with my older before soft start WS467 and WS12A was a 9.5 watt 60 watt equivalent Cree LED Bulb. Made {so far} for Home Depot. Others here have had similar experiences except one user. So I can only say good chance a Cree would work.

If you have an X10 plug in Lamp Module let us know. I may have some data on various dimmable LED Bulbs with both the early and soft start Lamp Modules.

The 2457DA1 is an Insteon plug in LampLinc and can have an X10 address programed into it.
One point. Smarthome chose a different dim command for their X10 access. %Dim or the old full On and dim down. If you are using AHP and a CM15A. Choosing an old before soft start may work with them.
