Door Switch/CM15A problem
« on: July 01, 2013, 07:40:29 PM »

Due to a recent hardware failure, I've had to reinstall windows.
System was working flawlessly before that. I downloaded the most recent
version of AHP(3.318). After a little tweaking, everything seems to be working fine
except for one DS10A which runs a macro to turn on a pantry light (leviton on/off switch).
I've changed the module definition, reinstalled the sensor several times but it seems
like the sensor is sending the signal about 70% of the time.
New batteries on sensor. The switch responds 100% to AHP commands.
The activity monitor shows no activity from the sensor when i am having the issue.
Its not a range issue as it is the closest of 4 and the 3 others have continued to work
flawlessly. Can't seem to figure this one out.
Any thoughts?

DS10A is a security door-window sensor.
Do you have the On Alert AHP Plug In or are you using a WGL interface to convert a security signal to an X10 address?

The others working sensors. Are they also a DS10A or DS12A?

If you are using On Alert. The problem sensor did register in AHP?

Sorry, yes I do have On Alert and F connector antenna mod.
All are DS10A.

Re register: That's the tricky part. It doesn't always receive the signal to register,
but when it does, the icon for the sensor in AHP still says "install" and does work some of the time.
All other working sensors also say "install".
Was trouble free for so long I can't remember what it is supposed to say on the module icon.

The sensor is in very close proximity to my router but has been for a year now and no issues until 3.318.

Since you have the antenna mod check the line of sight from the DS10 to the antenna.
Large metal objects(in the line of sight) will interfere with signals and since it is in a pantry I also would assume cans will play havoc on the signal as well.

I installed a DS10A on my test CM15A.
After registering it. The Icon on the AHP screen showed the module and a small install button on the Icon. To reinstall it if needed, I guess.
When I moved the magnet away. The Icon showed the switch and magnet moved apart and next to each other when moved together.
Activity Monitor showed. Sensor Closed when the magnets where together. Sensor Triggered when the magnet was moved away and the delay switch was on Min. Delayed Sensor Triggered when the delay switch was on Max.

There could be an RF problem as mentioned. To that sensors position. If the external antenna you are using is not close to it.

I may have found the culprit.
A skylink wireless keypad garage door opener.

I thought I had it installed weeks before the issues appeared.

Anyone know how I can find what frequency it operates at? Skylink GBRK

There should be an FCC ID number on it and you can look it up on the FCC Authorization Number web page.
Most likely the ID on the Keypad will be the one as it is a transmitter.
https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm
I found a vendor online that indicated the GBRK was 318MHz. Though a verification with the FCC ID could be used.

X10 uses 310MHz for many of their devices. Like remotes and sensors.

I don't see how the GBRK would stop your DS10A from transmitting or interfering with its signal.
It would only be sending RF when a keypad button was pushed. I would think the most that would happen was a false received command on the CM15A.
