I have an old CM11 as well, as I have been with X-10 since the beginning almost. How do you plug it in to the computer? It has a female serial port and all my computers only have female connectors as well. Did to get a converter?

The standard 9 pin serial connector on a computer has a DB9M Male pin connector. All of my computers with serial ports, have the Male pin connector.
What computer do you have? As it is not a standard serial port connector.

Or are you missing the 4P4C headphone type to DB9F CM11A Cable?

I have a HP laptop, Gateway DX series desktop and a Cyberpower desktop. They all have a 15 pin D shell female for VGA. No nine pin male d shells. It doesn't mater a whole lot because I like the CM15 better and you can disconnect from the computer. I have the full CM11 with cable.

Perhaps you are mistaking the VGA port for a serial port?
The VGA port typically is a 15-pin female, about the same size as the DB-9 Serial port, but the central plastic body of the port (between the pin sockets) is usually blue.

DB-9 serial ports are less and less common these days, since most devices are coming with either USB or Firewire connections. I don't think any of the PCs I've bought in the last 5 years of so had them.

Joe S has the answer I was looking for as to how to make the CM11 work. As I said all my computers have 15 pin VGA females, no 9 pin Serials that disappeared years ago. Thanks Joe

No problem ATS - I have the XTB-232 (its a modern high tech/kick a** CM11A) which also uses a serial port.  One day I plan to change my current desktop/HCA 12.0 Plus; to a laptop - and I'll need one of those myself.
