sc1200g gsm antenna mod cell plans
« on: November 09, 2017, 01:37:32 PM »

Well I must say the 1200g is not bad .I tried the unit with the older door window sensors.. didnt work good .
so ,I picked up the new door sensors on line DS12a  and all is good ,The range is real good after I pulled the sc1200g  apart and routed the antenna wire outside of the box then stripped the wire back about 3/4 inch. taped the white antenna wire to an old radio antenna and mounted the box and antenna to a board .installed in the upright position on the wall .Its great !
very good range now ,otherwise poor .Final step ,I need a sim card .Im not liking  my att support ,They told me to add a line to my existing ,didn't provide an option to go without data .How do I install alarmsim card ?.How do I activate ?
Dont want to waste any money here .please advise
p.s I noticed the gsm model is hard to get now .not sure why .with the mod its pretty good .I would not recommend if your starting from scratch .X10 should try to get up to date with the rest of the world .

wish list for x10 alarm include ,wifi ,zwave ,x10data , camera control to active motion when home and away .the alarm system needs to recognize when you are present and when you are not home  via iphone gps .
Ip configuration  ,cell back  ,under 200 dollars .These options are becoming available every day more products are showing up .
please advise on sim card
thank you

The GSM Version of the SC1200 is no longer on the X10 sales site.
Not specified but I suspect is is discontinued.

Thanks for the information. I have seen others reporting RF range issues. Because of the way the antenna is wrapped around the case edge between the top and bottom case parts.
I have seen an antenna mod for the standard SC1200 here.

The antenna mod extended the sensor range?
What you are seeing now is no GSM connections?
Did you get the GSM Information in the box?

Did the GSM provider. Indicate that you are in a location with their service?
