Cables and adaptors power supplies (Where to get?)
« on: November 28, 2018, 07:28:01 PM »

Most will order cables with your Pi However many over look the cable to connect to your CM15A.
Luckly a simple adaptor like this one will allow you to use your existing cables even the CM15A cable.

 ;)
You can get short cables for the CM15A with a OTG end from some computer shops, Amazon, or ebay I got mine from a local computer shop.
I also had several 5 volt 2.5 amp power supplies laying around but I picked up a UPS with 2.5amp USB charge ports so I needed a simple cable which my local dollar store had for under $2

For my RPi1 and RPi3 I decided I wanted to be able to toggle power since the RPi itself can't turn on unless you remove power and restore it.  If the RPiZW is installed in the CM15A housing this may be less needed/accessible.  But, I recommend sourcing such a cable too since it saves wear and tear on the RPi connector.

The one I have is like the following (I paid $2 on ebay):

I have one of those too that was included with the power supply I bought on ebay. Works well.

I actually thought about one of those even though my zero W is inside the CM15 it isn't powered by the CM15.
However I rarely power down the PI and the UPS is right beside the CM15 on a separate circuit.
I may add a switch to my next CM15 mod just for that purpose.
That cable would have come in handy doing this project though.
