So many parts to choose from... An infographic
« on: May 19, 2020, 08:10:31 PM »

So I'm trying to wrap my head around all the interesting stuff I can get running on X10.
I've never seen it presented graphically.

I'm trying to create an infographic that might simplify things for newbies.

This is a VERY rough work in progress.

Am I mistaken in the concept shown?

Actualy a computer connection is not required for the cm15 or 11 if simple on, off, dim, brighten control is required.
The cm15 and cm19 both send and recieve x10 security and standard x10 RF. So your missing the security side of things.
The RF sending codes are more bast then the PLC side.
You also overlooked the wm100 interface which uses wifi and converts to plc.
The stuff you can control with x10 is extensive, add in a good piece of software and possibilitirs are endless. I believe the  X10.com site had a simpler diagram at one time.  A infographic can get very complicated trying to show all possibilities and options.

Besides the security devices mentioned.

There are also X10 Cameras. At present I believe they are all Wi-Fi. In the past [some maybe still on some auction sites] They used a RF transmitter in them and a RF video receiver to get the video into a display like a TV.

This may have been what I was thinking about with the simpler infographic https://www.x10.com/x10-basics.html
It shows no computer interface, and in reality none is needed for a basic setup with no logic.
The old x10 cameras were PLC ( simple on/off if memory serves me right) only the video feed was RF, the ninja mounts were x10 RF.

At one time there where wired cameras. I believe the included cable was maybe 50 feet.

I still have one of those embeded in the logs in my off grid place. They worked much better then the wireless versions.
