I just purchased a CM19A which I intended to use with either FireCracker or Active Home Software to control my X10 modules.
I am running Windows 10 and the CM19A will not install.
Device manager indicates that there is no device driver available.

Where can I get a device driver?

Usually a Windows 8 or Vista driver will work with Windows 10 with some tweaking.

Am I forced to use Windows 7 or older OS?

Try installing the software first then attach the CM19. I know nothing about AHP but this looks like your best option. I'm sure there's plenty of info on this in the forum. I'm sure one of the AHP aficionados will jump in to point you in the right direction.

As petera suggested download AHP and install it first it does work on Windows 10.
once you have it installed plugin the cm19. You can register AHP to remove the nags by using AHP-Lifejacket. This will also give you a couple plug-ins.
There are also a number of other software packages out there that work with the CM19 and Windows 10 but you will not be happy with Firecracker.
You may wish to look at HomeGenie which will run on WIn10 or a raspberry pi with your cm19.

If your looking for a very simply win10 based setup, AHP is probably your best bet. HoneGenie is a great tool but far too complicated for just dabbling with. We've had a lot of people try it and just end up struggling.  I'd stick with AHP unless you want to invest a lot of time learning.

The simplicity of AHP over HomeGenie (HG)only comes into play once you start playing with timers, macros and Plugins. IMO
I think most users that tried HG and struggled were trying it on a PI and new to a PI (linuxbased) OS.

The PiX10Hub makes a good intro into the world of HG and the Pi OS.
HG running on a Pi is far more powerful then on a PC IMO

The image is several years old at this point and although a nice concept it is too old to recommend people use it today. In order to recommend an image like the hub, it really should have weekly updates so that the old packages are kept up to date. When the image gets so old, repositories wont have what's needed and users will get errors. As a new Linux user, that will drive all of them to ask for help on the forum or to assume the image is broken and move on.

In this case, OP has a windows machine and has requested support for CM17A and CM19A so AHP is a good intro.  If the OP has a RPi and any experience with Linux, I'd recommend another option.

The current PiX10Hub (Buster) image is less then a year old. However it does a update and upgrade on first boot.  So it should be up to date once installed. HG will be outdated but will ask to be updated once loaded. However all OS should be kept up to date. The Pi OS is no different.

 I believe the OP asked about Win 10 drivers for the cm19 only and if they were forced to use a different OS for ActiveHome or firecracker.  So back on topic, Active Home Pro (AHP) is not ActiveHome but the next step up. It installs the required newest drivers which work on Win 10  for AHP, ActiveHome and Firecracker being older software install older drivers which may not work on Windows 10. It should be noted HomeGenie will add different drivers then AHP and these may cause issues with one another.

I'll chime in, as I always do, with my recommendation for the $60 swiss army knife for X10, the Smartenit Harmony P2 with a 2412U PLM.  Runs on an Android or IOS app or via web browser, has excellent scheduling functions and an Alexa skill.  Works with Alexa and Google Home.

True. It replaces the need for the CM19a and transceiver.  The same functions are accomplished using either the app or the web portal with the P2 running schedules and macros.
