First Impression
« on: May 10, 2005, 05:52:30 PM »

The Good:
Straight out of the box, AH module, 3 lamps
1 appliance and 3 cameras all work great.

The Bad:
Bloat. Screen text too large, not scalable.
Too many animations (memory, clock) in
general the GUI looks like a childs game.
Uses WAY too much memory. I write chip
simulation code that's faster and tighter,
you can too.

C'mon guys get your marketing people off the
Meth and give us a break. Salacious pop ups,
reams of email and a website that looks like
a whorehouse in Las Vegas are insult enough.
Is it necessary to have 2 dozen push buttons
and panels trying to sell me MORE stuff in
the software? This is Adware. As such, I'd
like my $49.99 back. Radio stations don't
pay you to advertise, I'm not interested in
paying you for it either.
(hint: code more stuff, less fluff)

I agree with your sentiments fully.  You
can turn thoes icons on the modules off in
preferences if you like.

Keith: Thanks for the feedback. In the
preferences, you can turn off the in-program
advertising, and turn off the animation.

T & X10 - Thank you, that's decidedly better.

While probably sounding heavy handed I did
mean to convey that everything works quite
well...I was just a bit torqued about the
graphics. Having said that, I've tested it
all through the house and my shop, about 80
ft. from the house and it's brilliant.
If I can find the source of my video noise,
it will be 100%.

Thanks again.

Got it now. 2.4G Phones. Swapped to the
900's and it's clear.

Yea, I had a similar problem with the 2.4
GHZ phones.  Used to reak havoc with my
wireless 8.11G network.  Went with the 5.8
GHZ phones and all is well.

I gotta agree with Keith. I'm really
interested in these products, but I can't
get past the fluff all over the website to
get any real information. Even when you
click on the 'Homepage', it's not the
homepage, just a big banner ad. When I click
on the $49.95 package to see what that's
about, it's trying to sell me the $100
package on the same page, and I haven't
figured out WHAT THE $50 PACKAGE IS ABOUT.
Your stuff appears to be the best low price
stuff out there, but your marketing is like
Ronald Mcdonald selling Used Cars.
I'm glad I'm not interested in cameras,
there's so many of them it would drive me
nuts.
