I've been using X-10 products for over 20
years. And, I have several of the older
ActiveHome Computer Interface units which
requires a serial port connection on the
computer.
I just received my first ActiveHome Pro
Computer Interface model CM15A, which is USB
connected. The software has some nice
features. But I have several questions on
the unit.
1. When it is connected and I'm working with
the software, there is no listing of the
unit in the active USB devices list, when I
click on the tray icon which reads "safely
remove hardware" in Windows XP. I always
prefer to use this featue when I disconnect
USB devices, to keep XP happy. Disconnecting
it without being able to find the item
there, does cause the system to give out
its "bloop". Are other users noticing the
same thing???
2. This model has an antenna on the side,
but it is not clear what this is for. Does
the unit act as a transceiver module to pick
up commands from a wireless remote
controller, and send them through the AC
power line? Or, is this a transmitter
antenna, which can send out a wireless
signal to another transceiver?
3. Assuming it is one of the above, I guess
it must cover all of the 16 possible code
letters, where the usual transceiver can
cover only on at a time.
I'd like to get info on the above. And, in
addition to posting any replies in this
forum, would you please also send a copy of
the reply to me via email -

Thanks -
