I've got one motion detector that I received
with my AHP Pro package, and I haven't used
it until very recently.  I put it in my
hallway outside my bedroom so it would turn
on the lights automatically at night if my
wife or I needed to get up.  However, I've
set it to turn the lights off after 1 minute.
This never happens.  The lights stay on
forever.  I monitor the Activity Monitor both
for the system AND the module that controls
the lights, and none receive an RF signal to
turn off.  Any idea why?  I've reset the
detector (removed batteries for a period,
reprogrammed) to no avail.  Any help would be
appreciated.  Thanks!

Clint:  Do you have any macros that run on
the off command that the Motion Sensor is
sending?  If so AHP won't transceive the
command and you will have to add it to the
macro (if needed).  Other than that, I
don't know why the CM15a would transceive
the ON command but not the OFF command.

Nope, no macros at all..  but thanks for the
suggestion.  I think they're so cheap I may
just buy another one just to try it out..
maybe the problem is with the detector itself

I do something similar with a front light,
Program the motion detector to shut off the
light after 1 minute instead of AHP. It
seems to be the only way to make it work
right.

I would be surprised if it is a problem
with the motion sensor since it is probably
using the same hardware to send both the on
and off commands (the difference is
probably only in software).

It could be that the light is somehow
interfering the transmission of the off
signal.  That would also be surprising
since you say that the CM15A isn't
receiving the RF command so the light would
have to be generating RF interference.
What type of bulb are you using?

Since you're not using a macro to turn the
light on/off, the only part the CM15A plays
in the set-up with this motion sensor is as
transceiver right? And you are seeing the
incoming ON RF command from the motion sensor
in the Activity Monitor? But no off command?

I think maybe Roger H is right -- if no RF
off command is being sent, it could be that
something in the environment keeps the sensor
from thinking motion has stopped. Do you see
a repeated set of On commands? If you move
that sensor somewhere else does the behavior
change?

well, there are two fixtures that this
particular switch controls - both are typical
incandescent bulbs.

the hallway is extremely small, perhaps 6X6
feet, plus the stairwell (not sure how far
down the sensor can detect movement down the
stairs, but it seems to catch me near the top
(as I come up the stairs)).

I've moved the detector pretty much
everywhere I can without it peering into our
bedroom (and certainly capturing motion as we
turn over in our sleep, etc.).  Still
experimenting though, will keep you updated.
Still have yet to see an RF-OFF command..  I
think I'll turn down the "strength" of the
motion detection all the way so maybe it will
time out...  maybe even trigger it and then
turn it to face the wall directly so there's
no way it captures movement.

How far is the MS fron your CM15A?
As a test move your MS close to the CM15A,
and see if it then receives the ON/OFF from
the MS.  Also you may see the dawn/dusk
signal if it's enabled, one unit number
higher than the unit number you have the MS
set.
ON/OFF = MS (A1)
LIGHT/DARK = MS + 1 (A2)

In relative terms, the MS is quite close -
one floor above, but in pure distance, it's
practically right on top of the CM15A -
maybe 20 feet tops.

I did the test I described in my last post -
triggered the motion detector, then turned
it over and covered the sensor (and
actually moved the MS closer to the base
unit), and the light is still on...

I may try reprogramming again, perhaps I
missed something.  I currently have it on
24-hour mode, maybe I will set it to night-
only and give that a shot.  thanks for the
suggestion

new update - I've managed to receive an RF-
Off commany from the unit after completely
reprogramming it, turning the sensitivity
all the way down, and triggering it and
then putting it under a magazine about 10
feet from the CM15A....  So now, I've put
it back into position in the hall and am
running another test...  but to actually
see that RF Off signal was so great...  and
as I type this, the lights just turned off,
so it works!  sometimes I guess starting
from scratch helps.  thanks to all who read
and responded!

Just for grins, bring it down next to the
CM15A. Some motion sensors & remotes have
been known to have very short range!
When you did your test did you see anything
in the activity monitor?
