myHouse email invite
« on: December 06, 2005, 08:07:25 PM »

I can connect to myhouse ok via internet.
However I have not been able to send an
email invite from the myhouse plugin.

I have tried the "user config..." link,
and "send email invite" link.  It
says "Action Complete, email sent.."

Any thoughts.   I saw someone else talk
about email in the general string but I did
not see a response.

E-mail is working in general, but we've
identified a case or two where we can improve
it. We'll be releasing an update very soon to
address that.

Have you tried sending invites to e-mail
addresses at more than one domain (ISP)? Have
you checked to make sure that the invites
you're sending aren't not being trapped by
spam filters? The invitation messages will
have AHPGateway@x10.com as the sender.

I have tried several.  My blackberry, my
home ISP and work.  The first two have no
spam filters.  And on several diff dates,
and times.

Are there typical windows security settings
that might prevent atypical emails from
being sent for a non email application?

Can you try sending an invite to
ahpsupport@x10.com?

In the cases we identified, the blocking was
being done by the ISP, rather than the user's
computer. You can check and see if your
firewall or other security software allows
SMTP out from ActiveHome Pro, but I'd guess
that it's your ISP. The changes we have
planned for the update should work around that.

I sent one to you, and a few free form
emails.   I am not sure how the software
with no real setup, could use my ISP's smtp
servers.   How would it know what name to
resolve???

It does not really matter.  I have the info
remote..  I can not even use my work pc to
access myhouse.x10.com.  Like most big
companies our desktops are locked down, so
it will not allow users to install the
activeX app, which is required to use
myhouse.
