Trigger via Phantom or Not?
« on: November 23, 2008, 06:51:52 AM »

Macro F1 tests condition "Armed Home" and if so runs macro G1, if the condition is NOT "Armed Home", it runs macro G2.

Here's the question - Do I need, Should I have, Phantom modules G1 & G2?  Why?

It appears I don't "NEED" the Phantom ...but then if I don't have the phantoms, the TRIGGER won't show up in the Activity Monitor.

PG,

If I understand correctly, you want a macro that asserts G1 or G2 (no modules installed) so that you can view them in activity monitor - correct?

Your options are:
  • Pick a standard appliance module for your Phantom and use standard ON/OFF commands.
  • Use the "appliance control" or "module control" under the advanced function drop down to output the G1/G2 commands (no phantom required)
  • Use a RF ON/OFF under RF commands.

My personal favorite of the above is the RF command.  It does show up in activity monitor, it's fast, and won't clog your powerline (assuming you have no "G" transceiver).

One word of caution if you try the "appliance control" function - I remember Steven R having problems with this function "flipping its state" (programmed on - sent off) some time back.

Way cool - Thanks Boiler !!  I'll try the RF for the reasons you said!
