Is Else really Else?
« on: July 12, 2005, 10:56:52 PM »

I have setup two macros and it appears to
be executing them both at the same time
ignoring the meaning of the "else". Am I
understanding? that they execute because
they are both subscribed to the house code
event or does one execute else the second
macro executes.

Scott,

They are truly “else” statements. They
should execute in the order you have them
listed. If the condition in the first “else”
is true it will execute and all others are
ignored.  If the conditions in the
first “else” are false the second will be
interrogated  and on and on and on. I use a
number of these and have not had problems.
It sometimes gets a little difficult to keep
the logic clear in my head when they get 3
or more deep.

You may want to give more details about what
you are trying to do. I’m sure that some one
on this forum can help, if not try Access
X10.

Scott: The reason that both appear to be
executing is that both macros are
responding to the same triggering event.
The interface will determine which macro
commands are actually executed.

I appreciate your prompt response, it is
misleading to see both macros blink when
the event is triggered. I have had the
hardest time to set a light to 30% and keep
it there on a motion event I have tried
setting a flag and then clearing the flag
after the time (Delay) is up but it keeps
fading in and out. I am assuming this is
because the motion sensor keeps firing an
ON event I have tried setting the motion
sensor trigger time but I cant seem to
decipher the instructions on the little
booklet that came with them.. Every time I
do it just blinks with the settings...
Thanks again :)
