Since X10 is not investing in customer satisfaction, Software Quality or even Public Relations - WHAT ALTERNATIVES EXIST OUT THERE>....<

I am interested in monitoring automating and securing my home at any reasonable cost and wasting my time on X10 is not in the cards.....

Can you suggest alternatives?

There are other periodicals out there and they all have their issues!
Smarthome carries several security systems but nothing out there is plug and play!
Be prepared to waste time if your doing any system your self! If you don't understand the ins and outs it is all trial and error!
Do some reading both here and at the Smarthome Forums in the security section it may help you see potential problems before you start installing!
Also check other HomeAutomation Forums  like AccessAH for other suggestions!
Understanding the pros and cons off each system may lead you back to X10 for some things anyways!

Macros containing Batch files  and\or EXE files Stop executing after a period of time using the windows command option in AHP!
Even manually triggering from inside AHP fails once they stop working!
Recreating the macro fixes, but duration is short lived!
Cause: AHP closing and reopening!
