ALL lights on/off V3.175
« on: January 03, 2005, 09:50:50 AM »

I was noticing that there are buttons
with "All lights/on" or "All units/off"
options for each house code or the whole
system. But nothing anywhere for "All
lights/off" or "All units/on". Ok chances
anyone need all there units on at once is
slim but all lights/off I'm sure most users
could use this I for one don't want all my
units off just to turn off all my lights.
Can this be added to the next update? Wasn't
this in an earlier release?

There is no "All Units On" command in X10
for safety reasons.  There is an "All
Lights Off" command though.  This is
primarily used in alarm systems to flash
the lights and is not commonly available
directly to users.  I agree it would be
useful to have access to it from the
ActiveHome Pro software interface.  For
what it is worth, I noticed that it is
available in the SDK.

Look under Tools to find Lights On/Off,
Appliances On/Off, & Units On/Off for each
room.  Could this be of use to do what U want?

Well you can't turn all lights off from the
tools pull down not with one click anyways.
If it was there it still wouldn't be off
much use to most people, other then for
testing. What I'd like to see is the all
lights/off  for each house code or/and for
the whole system then a macro can be made
to  shut all the lights off at night/bedtime
motion detectors would turn on/off ones
needed. Some people have many lights to turn
off and I for one want to edit as few macros
as posible when I add a new module.
Smarthome has this option in their software
so I know it is do able.

In the Macro Designer there are All Lights
On/All Units Off for each house code, and
also All On/Off commands for each room. There
is also a   single "All Modules" On/Off
command to use in macros.

In addition, if you click the "Rooms" heading
in the group pane, you'll get a command link
for All On/All Off in the upper right of the
room view.

X10 Pro, when I do as U’ve described in U’r
2nd paragraph, I see “All Lights On in All
Rooms” and “All Units Off in All Rooms” in
upper right.

All units/off turns everything off
I just want to turn all lights off
I can turn all lights on why not off?
If I want the all the lights off but my
radio playing I have to turn all modules off
then turn on my radio. Not a big deal if
thats all I want to keep on. Am I the only
one that sees the need for this?

tuicemen, you aren't the only one who would
like this.  I know Charles Sullivan said
that standard X10 modules don't support the
native command, but this could be done in
software for those modules similar to the
way the room on and off commands work.

While we are at it, it would also be nice
if you could tell the appliance modules to
behave like a lamp module for when you are
controlling a flourecent light.  Some third
party modules let you program this as an
option within the module itself.

I'll see if we can add an "All Lights Off"
command that works like the room commands do.

Thanks X10 Pro!
I guess I'll use this work around for now.
I'll put all my lights into a room call
it "ALL Lights" and use the all units off
command in that room for now.
