AHP 3.177 Auto Select of Transcieved Housecodes "Feature"
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:49:44 PM »

The Auto Transcieved Housecode "feature"
introduced into 3.177 isn't working correctly.

It doesn't check mark Housecode "A" and
therefore none of my RF devices work on that
housecode.

If I set it to Specific and select the
Housecodes I want Transcieved, I hit Save and
download to the hardware.  But once I exit
the software and restart it, bingo, its set
to AUTO again and Housecode A is not selected
AGAIN.  Very annoying.

Same thing...always sets back to Auto.
This is definitely a bug X10.
How about those timers and Macros yet X10?

I think I've figured out what house codes the
Auto function decides to transceive. It
appears to be a PC program feature that
decides how to configure the cm15a based on
the modules you have defined.

If you have a module defined on the house
code AND you do not have a transceiver
defined for that house code, it configures
the cm15a to transceive the house code. I had
to delete the TM751 and RR501 I had defined
before the Auto setting would set those house
codes to be transceived.

Basically the auto function doesn't do
anything you couldn't do before manually.
What I REALLY REALLY want is the cm15a to
respond to rf on house codes it's NOT
configured to transceive. The events show up
in the activity monitor but the cm15a doesn't
take actions based on them when not
configured to transceive the house code.

I want this to keep rf events off the
powerline when there is no reason for them to
get there. I'd like to put my motion
detectors and rf remotes on a different house
code than my powerline modules and let the
cm15a programming decide what reaches the
powerline. This avoids collisions on the
powerline that lead to a lot less robust setup.

I'm confident I can get the rf range I want
out of the cm15a although it might require an
external antenna and possibly a pre amp at
the expense of my warranty. Small price to
pay IMHO.

Mike has described this feature correctly: it
only transceives house codes that are present
in your AHP file, EXCEPT for house codes
where you have an RR501 or TM751. It should
definitely remember if you've chosen the
manual setting, though. I'll take a look at
that and get it fixed.
