on and off
« on: February 05, 2005, 08:34:51 PM »

Has anyone experienced the mdules receiving
only of off command and not the off. All of
a sudden I have some lights that do not
receive the on command. The remote and the
software show that the command is being
sent. I turn the light on manually and when
press off on the software/computer it
works. it also works with the remote. The
ON command does not seem to work.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

AR  welcome to the X10 world of mystery!:>
I to have had problems like this It is
usualy the same light or modules that do
this. Some have suggested a phase coupler
others say it is noise and a filter will
help. I tend to lean to the filter as I have
seen those clear up these particular
problems. I have a socket rocket that does
this I just unscrew it and screw it back in
and it works same works for the lamp modules
that had this problem so try that first,
then move the module around to different
locations in the house. If it works in one
place but not the others than it could be a
phase isue. If unpluging and repluging in
the same outlet makes it work it probly is
the module. As you can see it isn't a simple
process!

Are the lamps standard incadescent ones or a
different type?

AR; I have all these problems about 4
months ago some module would worked
sometimes, other times nothing would work
at all or just turn on or off only. I
decided to bite the bulled and purchased
Smarthomes 4826B SIGNALINC REPEATER 3-WIRE
DRYER, plugged it in no more problems. I
know it is a little pricey but well well
worth it.

Sure!  This one is highly recommended by
those who have installed it.
