Decided to keep 3.173 on my Laptop for a
while so downloaded 3.180 to my ME based desk
top computer.  That worked ok and I was able
to open my 3.173 based ahx.

When I connected the diagnostic CM15a I was
asked for file x10uif.sys with the message
"Windows need the disk labeled USB Remote
Receiver installation disk".

That file is not on my ME machine, or on my
XP home laptop.  I was not prompted for that
file when I interfaced the Diagnostic CM15a
to my laptop.

So X10 pro - Where do I find that file so I
can interface the CM15a on my Windows ME
computer?

thanks

Andy, take a look on page 44 or 45 of U’r
“ActiveHome Pro” owner’s manual (such as it
is).  Also the file in question should be on
U’r XP machine at: C:\Program Files\Common
Files\X10\Driver Install\Wireless
Transceivers.  It may be on U'r ME machine as
well, in the same or similar location.

I did a hard drive serch on both computers
and didn't find it.  When the CM15a diag
version is running on XP home laptop it uses
a different driver.

X10 Pro

Andy D: We do use a different driver on XP
and 2000 than we do on Win 98/ME. The driver
should be installed in Program Files\Common
Files\X10\DriverInstall\Wireless
Transceivers\ in either case.

If when installing on WinME it asks you for a
disk, browse to this directory and you should
find the right file.

If the driver existed in the correct
location I wouldn't have received the error
message. I couldn't find it anywhere on my
hard drive. I assume this is an x10 unique
driver and not one that came with Windows ME.

Can you email it to me, or tell me if it is
available from the x10 website.

thanks

X10 Pro

AndyD: Run your original ActiveHome Pro
complete installer (not just an update
installer) and it should install the correct
set of files in the location I described.

Ok, I got it working.

thanks
