Recieve from Active Eye Motion Sensor not Working
« on: March 25, 2005, 08:27:07 PM »

I am setting up a motion sensor to trigger
a couple of macros.  One macro for the D3
ON and the other for the D3 OFF.  The
triggers are not working.  If I send the D3
ON or OFF from a remote, the macros trigger
fine.  In checking the Activity Monitor I
noticed that the Sensor is producing a
Receive RF D3 ON and the macro is not
running.  On the other hand, the remote is
producing a Receive RF D3 ON followed by a
Receive D3 and then a Receive D ON.  Can
anyone tell me why the remote and the
sensor are not producing the same results?

Ed:  Do you happen to have a transceiver
other than your CM15a on house code D?  If
so, maybe house code D is not being
transceived by the CM15a and the motion
sensor is out of range from the motion
sensor.

I to have the same problem with all of my
sensors and remotes. The AHP recieves the
signal from the sensors and remotes and
even flips the switchs but the module(s) do
not respond. But if I use my mouse and flip
the same switch it works fine and the
module reacts.

I've been restling with theses type of
problems for a month.  I've concluded that
the CM15A just does not function in a
consistent maner, and you will probably
spend hours trying to trouble shoot
problems, never finding a solution because
the CM15A is so screwed up.

I finally solved my macros problem, I have
purchased a PowerLinc 1132CU controller,
this device has a Hardware Real time Clock
with a Lithium battery back up(the clock
will keep working with power off for the
shelf life of the battery, at least 10
years).
Incidentally as soon as I requested a
refund, X10 stop replying to my emails.
There is an old say “You get what you pay
for”, the 1132CU is more expensive than the
cm15a, but my time is valuable, I rather
pay more for a reliable product.
AHP in the past few months has released 83
software upgrades, no amount of lemon aid
can fix the serious hardware short comings,
as a stand alone unit with smart macros a
Hardware battery back up clock is a MUST,
not a luxury.

Carmine,
I ordered the 1132CUP.  Did you get the
plus software.

Steve: The most likely cause of this problem
is that the interface is not set to
transceive the House Code that you are using.
Open the Hardware Configuration, and check
that your House Codes are checked under
Transceived House Codes.

Tcassio: I'm sorry you've had such
frustration with ActiveHome Pro. You didn't
mention what wasn't working when you said you
were done, but I'd be happy to help figure it
out: ahpsupport@x10.com.

X10 Pro,
Now finally after 4 weeks of posting
problems, sending you a e-mail explictly
outlining my problems, I have a gotten a
response from you until now after
purchasing your competitors equipment.
Well the last straw was the replacement
CM15A that I received, it was worse than
the first one that I received.  X10Pro, I
truly feel sorry for you, judging from the
condition of the equipment that is shipped
from X10 you have an impossible job.  For
instance, I outlined a problem that I had
reguarding the Flags status report not
displaying the status.  Several other
people posted the same condition.  You
responded that it was a software problem.
Well guess what, the replacement unit I
received displayed the status flags
properly.  Even your head is spinning.
Obviously not a software problem, if it
were it would not work with any unit.
I've purchased the Smarthome 1132 CUP, and
as far as I can tell it is a superior
product,  the only short comming is the
lack of RF, well guess what, I own A CM15A,
and that will be used as a whole house
transeiver.  At least that part of it works.

To Tcassio:
Yes I have, it works great. It’s event
macros are more sophisticate than X10 smart
macros, maybe a bit intimidating for first
time user, but very powerful, and of course
is has a internal battery backed up
Hardware Real Time Clock  and 32K of data
memory( cm15 has only 8K and no Hardware
Clock); not need to worry a battery only
lasting few hours.

Carmine,
Do you leave your computer connected 24/7?

to leave the computer on.

TCassio,

If a 24x7 computer is really
preferred/desired, the 1132U product may be
more desirable  (with Homeseer or some
other dedicated PC software) than the
1132CUP.  Personally I have 1132CUP because
I DO download/seperate it from the PC and
prefer that mode of operation.  Yes, the
conditions in macros can get pretty
lengthy, and you will have to think
carefully about the order in which those
conditions apply (which is fun - but if you
get it wrong, you'll know right away that
it's you, and not the box.  Alternatively
(so my brain could process the logic
properly) I have taken to using ghost
modules (kinda like having unlimited flags)
as triggers - to make 2 smaller macros out
of one long one - just so my head could
embrace what I was programming.  That last
statement probably won't make sense to
you 'til you've worked with it a while.
Good luck - but you won't need it!

TCassio,
One way to keep macros simple, if you have
a sequence of commands (including
conditions and event steps) that is used in
more than one location, you can create
a “Sequence”, then just paste it(name only)
in the location required; this has the
benefit to reduce macros complexity and
else reduce interface memory requirement;
the “Sequence” is used as a subroutine.
Basically instead of being limited with
preset structure like AHP , 1132CUP has a
simple script language that is very easy to
master and very powerful, allowing for very
complex macros.

Carmine, Joe S.,
I received my 1132 CUP yesterday, and guess
what, IT WORKS.  It took a little playing
around to figure out the triggered events,
but once i figured it out it was a peice of
cake.  I was able to call Smarthome tech
support, sat on hold for about 2 mins, and
actually spoke to someone who was able to
help (this alone is worth its weight in
gold).  This hardware/software combo blows
away AHP.  I am a happy camper.
Thanks for all your feed back.
Thanks,
T.
