Donald: It would make a lot of sense that
an anti-Spyware/Adware/Virus program could
be causing the problem for some users.
Every time I run Ad-Aware it finds a
tracking cookie from x10.com. It could be
that some of these programs are blocking
installs from x10.com. It would be
interesting to know what other software
users who are having problems have
installed.

I had an occurance where it looked like the
AHP update stopped for no apparent reason,
found out it was my firewall blocking X10
and the dialogue box was burried under some
other open windows on my screen....

MICHAEL COLE of X10: I have been hoping for
a reply for almost a month now to a couple
simple questions. Do you want me to
summarize my questions and post them on
this forum ? You gave my emails. Thanks.

Bob Taylor: I just sent you a reply e-mail.

It is also some programs that use an active
update check. Not just the anti-bad guys
stuff.

Ok... I'm a happy camper again.

In spite of telling Norton numerous times
that it was ok for "ahp_updt" to access to
internet and not having problems with the
last few updates, I decided to use
the "turn off my firewall for 5 min" option.
Install worked like a charm.

I want make it clear that while I at times
find all of the X10 products & software to
be frustrating, I still consider them to be
a great value. I truly appreciate all the
help I have received here from both X10 and
fellow X10 users.
BVC let's me tell my camera where to go!
:) Murphy is my beta testing pal. He helps me find problems whether I like it or not. :)

StevenR: Glad to hear you resolved your
issue.

What your saying makes sense. Many
firewalls will try to prevent malicious
applications (viruses/spyware/adware) from
accessing the Internet but have a way for
you to allow applications to access the
Internet legitimately. The problem is some
malicious applications will try to spoof
the firewall into thinking it is a
different (legitimate) application so some
firewalls will try to determine if it is
being spoofed or not. Most likely for some
reason Norton thinks ahp_updt isn’t
ahp_updt but a different application
pretending to be ahp_updt.

If you complain, Norton will probably say
it is X10’s fault and X10 will probably say
it is Norton’s fault. X10 has more of an
invested interest in resolving this issue,
but it would be worth while telling Norton
that their piece of junk firewall is
causing you grief.

X10 Pro

We're aiming for a release this week that
will include that fix.
