This software is full of bugs
« on: July 20, 2005, 11:17:26 PM »

Oh my god I don't even know where to begin

1) You have to go through a ritual just to
save your file. If you just do save and not
download the timers and macros to the
interface it will not save.

2) Smart Macros? Huh! More like incredibly
stupid macros. Half of the time they do not
fire correctly.

a) When they do none of the delays are
honored. All the events fire one after the
other with no regard to delays.
b) It triggers the action items of
the "off" macros directly behind the "on"
macros. Without ever receiving the "off"
command!
c) It appears to randomly choose what
modules to trigger!
d) It does not trigger "ON". It sends all
modules as 100% bright!!!
e) Operating system command option does
NOT work at all!
f) the If/Else/logic is beyond idiotic.
What if I want multiple different events
for the same code? Can't do that with
if/else!!!
g) If you use the macro wizard, you can't
read flag status as a condition. It
disappears as an option.

This thing is a flaming pile of crap and I
am deeply saddened I spent any money on it.
I usually try to not be this negative, but
this thing is sub-beta. The version of AH
(serial) I was using prior to this was a
thousand times more stable!!!

What bugs? X10 Pro calls them advanced
features;
I had so much fun with the cm15a + AHP +
Smart macros that I ditched for Smarthome
1132CUP.

Geo:

1) Saving doesn't seem too complicated to me,
but I'm used to the process. What would you
like to see us do to improve it?

2a) Does this happen when the macro is stored
in the interface or run from the PC? Or both?

2b) I haven't seen this myself. Maybe we'll
need to take a look at your data file and see
what's going wrong. If you'd like to do that,
please send it to ahpsupport@x10.com.

2d) We'll be adding a preference to allow you
to choose which one you want to send -- ON or
Bright 100%. Many users prefer the bright
100% so they know they are turning the lamp
on fully.

2e) What version of Windows do you use?

2g) I'll try to duplicate that here and get
it fixed.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I do have to say that I am pleasantly
surprised.

1) There have been several times when I hit
save to save my work, but did not download
the info to the module. I then exited the
program (ironically) to trouble shoot
another problem. Only to go back and have
all my work not saved.

2a) I store all my macros on the interface
(except of course when I was trying to do
PC commands). In looking at it some more
last night, I "think" it's when a delay is
the first action item. Have not confirmed
it but that's my going theory.

2b) I will send you my data file. Do I need
to attention it to anyone in particular?

2c) I have had the interface randomly
choose interfaces to fire. I have a macro
that is supposed to turn lights on when
triggered by motion. In looking at
the "Activity monitor" when the macro ran
it tried to turn the fireplace on instead!
Fortunately it sent a bright 100% which the
module did not honor.

2d) That would be very good.

2e) Winxp sp2. I have tried to set up a
macro that calls an windows batch file or
just echo text to a text file. Both failed.
Although I can click "trigger macro" and
get it to execute, it never executes as
part of a triggered macro. No matter the
trigger.

2f) I realize my statement on that line was
not very constructive (if not rude) but I
really would like to find a way to trigger
the same code without flowing through
if/else logic. I would like a way to
trigger a1/on and have it execute all
macros associated with that code.
Sequentially if need be, but all of them.

2g) Thank you.

While I have your ear
2h) Some of my modules are capable of
receiving a direct dim level, but using AH,
setting a 50% dim, turn the unit on to 100%
then attempts to reduce it to 50. Is there
a way to stop that?

2i) Under advanced functions, what purpose
does the x10 address command serve. I
assume you'd have to combine it with
something else?

Thank you again

Send your data file ahpsupport@x10.com

1) That's not something I've seen before. The
save/download scheme hasn't changed in a long
time, and I don't see that problem myself, or
hear it from other users. It could be some
specific change that's not being saved though
-- do you remember what kinds of changes you
made when seeing that problem?

2a) Having a macro start with a delay should
be handled correctly. When I have your data
file I can take a look and see what's
happening when it's stored in the interface.
That will help with 2b & 2c & 2e as well.

2f) The interface doesn't work in a way that
allows that easily, but it may be possible
with a little work -- I'll see what we can
figure out and let you know.

2h) This depends on the command your modules
use for setting dim commands. Try changing
the module type to LM14A (the X10 two-way
module, which has the same feature) and see
how that works.

2i) We added that at the request of users who
have modules from other companies that use
sequences of address commands to program the
module.

OK. I think I have more info on the macros
not honoring delays issue.

Create a Macro
Put in a delay of any amount
Immediatly follow the delay with a Clear
Flags command
Follow is by whatever module you want on or
off

Execute the trigger.
The delay will not be honored.
Easily reproducable.

Better yet,

It looks like it runs the macro twice! Once
with no delay then once again with the
delay!

It also appears to only happen when AHP is
left running.

From the original post:

"b) It triggers the action items of
the "off" macros directly behind the "on”
macros. Without ever receiving the "off”
command!"

I am experiencing this problem too.

I have a light switch, an ON macro, and an
OFF macro, all on K4. The ON/OFF macros
contain nothing but the light switch. The
macros are triggered by signals from a
TM751, which in turn picks up the light
on/off signal from a wireless remote.
Attempting to turn the light on results in
the light coming on for one second, and then
it switches off! This happens when using the
remote, clicking the AHP switch icon, and
the AHP ON macro.

I replaced the off command in the OFF macro
with a dim 50% command, and the light dimmed
instead of going off.

I've cleared the CM15A memory, restarted my
PC, reloaded the macros, deleted and re-
built the macros, and the result is the same.

I running Windows XP SP1, and I have a
diagnostic CM15A.
