Registration Problems

X10 Techs:  This has to be the most
pathetic situation I have ever run across.
We, your users battle with the problems of
your immature hardware & software on a
daily basis.  We stick in there because we
want your product to work, we spend hours
debugging & working around problems & we
help you make your product better & you
continuie to sell it !

I install software all the time, never have
I had such a problem, I cannot use the
product you sold me because your system
will not let me register it !   I've shut
my router firewall off, turned my software
firewall off, restored my computer from a
backup made a month ago (without Active
Home Pro installed) & then like I've done
many times before, I install the AHP
program I purchased in January - Your
registration server comes back with an
error, AHP cannot get the registration info
from your server....   Your call in support
tells me it's my firewall, your forum
response says email is a better way to
handle it, I give you my email address, I
hear nothing from you, you say you have no
problem with your registration server, I
think that is bull.   I want my software to
install & beregistered !

Send me a link to a new download file I can
install that will come up registered or let
me enter my registration info locally on my
computer like most other software products
do.   I know you want to control it via
your server.......But I want my software to
work !!!!   Help me fix it quickly or let
me get it up and working without having to
work with your registration server !

I have been a loyal AHP user since 01/05.
I have helped X10 and it's users since
then  to resolve a multitude of problems.
I  recently ran into a problem that the
lowest  technical support person at X10
could not  resolve (I cannot even register
my software)  so I jumped ship a and
ordered SmartHome  equipment to replace my
AHP software and  CM15A USB controller.  My
friends and  family have done the same and
have not had  any problems with the
Snarthome product.  You neeed to spend some
more money but you  will save yourself some
major grief.....    I'll let you know the
results !

Dear X10,
You might want to listen to Mr. Taylor's
frustration because it predicts the future
of AHP/CM15A unless X10 admits this is an
Edsel and really fixes it. Bandaids and
bubblegum is no longer having an effect.
Even the forum participation seems to be
dropping. If I were marketing/engineering
director for this product, I would take that
as a very serious negative sign.

X10 - Best advice I have for you: Get out
of the software & controller business.
Package your great inexpensive modules /
switches / etc. with SmartHome’s RF & USB
controller & software.  Start selling
systems that work!!!

X10 will only listen to numbers, even with
all the complains they sell a large number
of products thanks to sleaze advertising
and a web site that at first glance appears
to be a porno site. Most people would not
keep any product that has so many problems
like the CM15a+ AHP(if it was a car or any
appliance), but many fools just keep
waiting for this junk to work “next update”
allowing this company to keep on going.
The only reason they insist on web
registration and updates so they can flog
you with cheap advertising, and keep track
of they customers; maybe the people at X10
that created this scheme used to work for
IRS.

I am having the same problem with
registering. Has anyone found a way to fix
this? I ran the test site that they sent me
and it shows it works but still won't
register with server.

I have been working  on this for the last
week with no hope.  Get the same lame
answers from tech  support.  Must be my
firewall.  Fine, took  it out.  Must be my
ISP.  Fine, went to a  friends direct IP
connected link.  Nothing  works.    Here is
what I have done.  Switched network  cards
(from a gig card), went directly to  my DSL
modem, turned off all personal  firewalls,
booted into safe mode.  Nothing.    Now the
kicker, loaded it on my older P4  2.8 and
it loaded just fine and  registered.
Something about the Dell it  doesn't like.
Maybe the Raid hard drives,  maybe the dual
core, who knows.  Did you  ever have any
luck?    Thanks
