AHP Piece Of Junk
« on: August 07, 2005, 12:23:45 PM »

ActiveHome Pro has to be the bigest piece
of junk I have ever seen. It is full of
more bugs than a land fill. Guys you need
to take this off the market. I can try to
open it and boom crash. Then reboot and try
to view a setting and boom crash. I have
tried this on Windows XP Por, Home and
Windows 2000 Pro , Server. Guys you really
need to make some head way. Yes, I am
running the latest version so try again
(before you ask)

Hi Rick,
I am a AHP user who is running XP Pro. With
the VA11A and cameras.
I wrote something that sounded a lot like
your post a few months ago.
My problem was with the VA11A interface.
Apparently, the X10 folks did not bother to
get a unique hardware ID number from Bill
Gates. I cannot blame them for that. My
problem came about when, after a few failed
installations, I had 'Intel Camera Pro' and
a VA11A drivers both trying to talk at the
same time. That was the only time, ever,
that my XP system actually crashed.
I do not remember exactly if the name
was 'Intel Camera Pro' or not. Look in your
device manager for something that sounds
like that and then 'uninstall' it.
I don't remember the exact procedure, except
that when the auto installer says
anything 'Intel Camera Pro' hit cancel.
This stuff actually works but it is NOT user
friendly.

Hopefully the X10 support people will fill
in my blanks on the uninstall / reinstall
process.

Regards,

Ken

Agreed, but it still crashes allover and is
chop full of bugs. It is partly my fault
for buying the cm15a. I shold have read
before I purchased such a device. I also
should have read the AHP is so limited when
compaired to many of the other managment
software.
