Whaz-up?

Weird condition.

I have motion sensor on I1.
Macro is set to trigger from I1-ON.
Macro sends F5-ON, delays 30 sec, then F5-
OFF.

Here is what worked, and DID'NT work.
Cause unknown...  This started for no
particular reason today.  It is possible
that it correlated with me unpluging the
CM15A, then plugging it back in, after
using the outlet for something else
temporarily.

1.  Motion Sensor did send signal, as shown
in the activity monitor.
2.  Macro did NOT trigger.  Did not show
the F5-ON in the activity macro, and
obviously F5 did not turn on.
3.  Manually pushing the macro DID turn on
the F5.
4.  Manually turning on F5, and the switch
DID turn on the light.
5.  I tried to reset the CM15A, by sending
clear memory command, then d/led
macros/timers.  This did NOT work.
6.  Finally, I unplugged the CM15A, and
removed the batteries for a few seconds.
This DID work, and now it all seems to work
normal..

WHATS UP!?

Lovin my AHP, not loving this sometimes
crazy stuff...

Thing did it again.  I think that it might
be caused by unpluging from the wall.
Because, this time I actually pulled the
breaker and it happened.  I was installing
a new WS12A.

There seem to be several CM15A/AHP fault
conditions resulting in macros not working
properly caused by interrupting AC power or
even disconnecting and reconnecting to the PC
while AHP is running.  Sometimes recovery is
possible by re-downloading the macros, other
times it takes the unpower/battery remove-
replace trick (plus re-downloading).

Sometimes macros just won't execute, other
times the macros will execute but don't wait
for a clear power line and collide with other
X10 signals on the line.

I've never been able to get a solid grasp on
what it takes to reproduce the problems.

DID IT AGAIN!  This time, definitely caused
by power down.  Although, it is
recoverable, it is quite frustrating.

I've thought about possibly installing X10
as a sideline business, but with this kind
of CRAP, no way.

I don't mind babying it all the time -
MYSELF - but I'd hate to self a system to
someone, and have to make excuses all the
time.

As best you can remember, what were the
circumstances leading to this latest "crash"?
And what steps were required to recover from
this crash - re-download alone or battery trick
alone or battery trick + re-download?

Some posts here indcate thet the cm15a has
powerline noise problems. Seems that X10
left out 4 cheap bypass capacitors in the
design that may fix the probelms. They added
the missing parts and the problem was fixed.
Though the warantee is voided by opening the
case.

Charles,
Definitely caused by power down.  I (again)
removed the power from the outlet.  It was a
switched OUTLET, and I changed to hard
wired.  So, it lost power.  Plus, I
unplugged it during the rewire.

Can't remember the EXACT events that fixed
it.  But, this is the order that I went.
And, I'm pretty sure that it required all
steps:
1.  Unplug and remove battery for 2 sec.
2.  <shrug>  Didn't work, so I unplugged
again, and removed battery for 60sec+.
3.  Didn't completely work, so I erased the
config, and reloaded macros and timers.

The thing is I can't remember if that is all
that I did.  Think so though.

Brian,  This unit is only 4 weeks old.  If
the caps are on the newer units, I should
have them.  If the caps are just an
IMPROVEMENT MOD, and don't come OEM, then
let me know if you know of a mod-page.

Forgot to mention.  I also unplugged and
replugged the USB in there somewhere.  I've
had this help before.  Again, don't now if
it help this time.
