X10 Quality - I wouldn't buy their products again...

Quality of hardware is poor (signals
interfere w/ wireless LAN, don't travel
through walls, get lost frequently).
Software is poor (only works intermittently,
crashes Win2k).  Customer service is
terrible (waiting a month for an RMA, still
waiting on account credited, don't log
calls, always wait on hold).  I would not
recommend buying their products.  My 2 cents.

I WOULD NEVER EVER TELL ANYONE TO BUY THIS
PRODUCT..........CUSTOMER SERVICE KEEPS YOU
ON HOLD OR DISCONNECTS AND ALL THEY TELL YOU
IS WE CAN EMAIL THE DIRECTIONS.............I
HAVE A FOLD WITH 57 PAGES OF HOW TO AND NO
ONE THERE WILL TALK YOU THRU IT.........AND
SINCE SEPT I STILL DONT HAVE IT HOOKED UP
CORRECTLY SO IT WORKS...THIS IS THE WORST
AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO
ANYONE..............THEY WILL NOT TAKE THIS
BACK NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SEND BACK
PARTS THAT DO NOT WORK.....THEY JUST KEEP
REPLACING THEM,......VERY BAD CUSTOMER
SERVICE....

I think people who read these messages should
balance it with others who have used X10
products successfully.  Yes I have had
problems with quality using X10 products in
my household that utilizes lots of RF devices
(e.g. LAN's, etc.).  So I simpy disabled the
wireless, and utilized the hard-wired video
feature in conjunction with the wireless
controls.  I have to say, so far X10 provides
the best bang for the buck when using the
products in this fashion.  I also have had no
problems returning devices that failed, so in
my opinion I think the drastic claims made
here not to use X10 products were from users
needing usage guidance

I don't know what some people are looking
for, but for the price I have know problem
with x10. If you want better well put the
money out other wise get off the pot.
They have better if you want to pay.
I spent less then $300.00 and I can see my
dogs in the yard and my cars at night and
know when someone is at my front door
before they get there.

Got Rma # in less then 24 hours in e-mail
and credit back in two days. One of my cams
is on the dark side of a barn and signal is
great.

not just on this forum, look up x10 on
google. there's 7 reliable sites ranking
them bad, along with consumers.

I have had no significant problems with X10
products so far. I have used their products
for over 5 years. I purchased Automation,
Security and Camera equipment and the quality
is not bad for the amazingly low prices.
Everything was always promptly received and
works as advertised. I never had to return
anything and never had problems with the
installation, but some installation
procedures could be better written and
sometimes in more details. If I needed
something better then I would shop elsewhere
and pay considerably more.

My experience is the same - sofware crashes
computer - Lots of time with tech people and
updates didn't help. Customer Service IS
terrible.

I don't complain very often but this
company's customer service is very bad.I
have 3 x10 cameras and the vcr2 commander
along with the motion sensor and I am so
disappointed with this product.I will not
recommend any off my friends or coworkers
to buy from this company ever.

Sorry you feel that way. I have found for
what I paid it works great for me, know it
is not a $1000.00 unit it is a $100.00 one
and you have to use your brain a little to
make it all work. 8 units up and running
and three pan/tilt. You know you only see a
very small part of who buys from here and
most not all could not even plug in a
toaster. If I looked at every thing like
some of the people who write here, well I
would have to pass on buying a car,TV's,and
such. Sorry but  Prefectsville is not real.
