Increasing range of MS16A motion sensor
« on: September 19, 2005, 12:22:49 AM »

I had a problem with range with the MS16A
motion sensor, it seemed to work at 80 feet
but not at 100 feet where I needed it from
the transceiver. I didn't want to extend
the antenna in the sensor for fear of
ruining the water resistant features, so I
extended the antenna on the transceiver
instead, by clipping on a 15" jumper on the
end of the antenna. Now the signal is good
and strong. I'm sure the wave length is not
correct but it works and its easy to do.

That is a known workaround.  Sounds like you
have that tacky little cm17a tranceiver with
the dangling wire antenna.  It sucks out of
the box, but by adding a decent telescoping
antenna makes it suck less.
