Hi, I understand the x10 system is limited
to 16 zones/sensors.  Can I daisy chain the
window magnetic contacts back to one
wireless trasnmitter and if any of the
windows is opened, the alarm will trigger?

Where can I get (and what kind should they
be)the magnetic contacts?

Yes you can connect them in series or in
parallel.  My local hardawre (Lowes) carries
magnetic contacts which work.

That is great.  I am also looking at
monitoring temperature and x10 does not
have anything so I found the MTA-1
Mechanical Temp Alert.  It Provides (2) dry
contact closure outputs 1-high alarm, 1-low
alarm.  So I assume I can take the output
wires to an x10 transmistter and drive the
alarm that way.  Will that work.  Sounds
like the circuit is open until the
temperature is met and then it closes.
Does x10 work on normally open or closed?

I believe they are called normally open and
the magnet closes the switch when not
tripped. So; connect the switches in series
so any of them opening up will trip the
sendor. Radio Shack also has the switches.

The door/window sensors work either way -
depending on how you have the switch set
inside the unit. If your unit is missing the
switch, as many are, you can just solder a
jumper wire on in place of the switch - where
the switch would normally go. I have done
this, and it works fine. This gives you the
option of "normally open" or "normally closed."

Nice to know that about a switch that may or
not be there. Like the Powerhorn has a place
for a set of screw terminals and a relay if
a few parts are added.
