Voice Dialer
« on: November 14, 2004, 07:21:56 AM »

I understand that the DS7000 dialer is able
to dial when an alarm is triggered. I have
seen conflicting information on the exact
logic that tells the system when to stop
dialing. According to one report, it is not
fooled by answering machines as was the case
in earlier versions? Will it continue to
sequence through the 4 programmed numbers
indefinitely until someone response with a
'0'? I would sure appreciate an explanation
of the dialout logic. Thanks.

I just talked (through the on-line text
chat) with a sales rep this morning about
this. He stated that the system goes through
the phone numbers until someone presses the
0 to listen in. I assumed he meant it would
only dial each number once. In my experience
testing this unit, this is NOT the case. In
fact, the system has hung up on me before I
could answer my phone and never called
another number. It is supposed to repeat the
message 3 times before it hangs up. I'm
going to test it again tonight.

I have tested the system with my cell phone
which has voice mail.  The system stops
dialing when my voice mail starts.  I tried
my friends cell which does not have voice
mail and it does dial the next number if no
one answers.  I guess the system is fooled
by voice mail but I have not tried it on an
answering machine.

When the system is triggered and dials out
the noise emited from the console makes a
noticable blip when it starts to dial the
next phone number.
