DS7000 Console chiming while unarmed!
« on: November 09, 2005, 02:37:02 PM »

In the past month I have had the DS7000
console start chiming as if the alarm was
going off when the system was NOT armed. It
just starts screeching and flashing one of
the zones.  I have to use the remote to
disarm it to make it stop. The unit is one
year old and all batteries are good. What
should I do? Call Technical Support?

It could be that something is arming the
system without your knowledge (open radio
waves--310 Mhz).  After you disarm the
system, is the violated zone flashing as
well as the ARMED light flashing?  If so
this would indicate something has armed the
system.  The fix would be to reset the
system by unplugging the battery and AC and
reinstall the components.  Takes like five
minutes.  Be sure to reverse (turn around)
the motion sensors during installation to
prevent multiple registrations of the same
detector.

Yes, the lights are flashing. The system
doesn't turn on the security light outside
or try to call the phone numbers. But I'll
reset everything anyways. It's worth a try.
Thanks,
