I recently installed an X10 security system
in my house. I armed 5 exterior doors with a
door/window sensor. With three of the door
sensors, my console's zone indicators
continuously flash slowly, which the owner's
manual suggests is likely a poor battery. But
since I have installed brand new Duracells in
the sensors, I know that the batteries are
not the problem. The contacts are
approximately 3/16 of an inch apart, which
seems not to be an issue since the sensor
works fine when tested or if the door is
opened in Run2 mode. I've wondered whether
the coiled battery contacts are pressed in
too far, thus not providing for adequate
power to the sensor, but even stretching out
these coils has not improved the performance.
Any suggestions?
